Taste of DSM

We are grateful to the local restaurants and organizations who have donated their time and talent to make the Taste of DSM experience at this year's Drake Golf Classic possible. This tasting-style dinner features sample portions from each of our participating vendors, giving you the opportunity to experience a variety of Des Moines' best flavors all in one place. Their participation is a celebration of the incredible culinary community that makes Des Moines one of the Midwest's most exciting food destinations. Karam's Mediterranean Grill has been proudly serving the Des Moines metro with authentic Mediterranean cuisine since 2010, when founder Hamid turned a passion for food into a thriving food truck operation. Known for their Moroccan-style Chicken Shawarma and gyros, Karam's menu spans everything from lamb gyros and falafel platters to Greek quesadillas and homemade baklava — all made to order and packed with bold, fresh flavor.

Founded in 1947 by Rose and Jim Pigneri, who immigrated from Terravecchia, Italy, the restaurant was built on a desire to bring authentic Italian fare to the heart of the Midwest. An east side institution beloved by generations of Des Moines families, The Latin King is the kind of place where every meal feels like a celebration.

Tasty Tacos

Tasty Tacos was founded in 1961 by Richard and Antonia Mosqueda with little more than a $500 loan and a family recipe for a fluffy flour-shell taco. Guided by the motto "Nada Es Imposible" — Nothing Is Impossible — what began as a small family operation has grown into six flourishing restaurants across the Des Moines area. Their signature flour taco, made fresh daily, remains one of the most iconic bites in the city.
